GPU Mining Era Begins

Miners began outperforming CPUs with graphics cards — the first hardware arms race.

By late 2010, miners discovered that AMD Radeon GPUs could hash far faster than CPUs. The shift raised the network difficulty and foreshadowed the industrial mining era that ASICs would later dominate.
